Winemaking Team

Felipe Tosso

Head Winemaker Felipe Tosso Joined Ventisquero in 2000. After Seriously considering alternate careers as tennis pro and classical guitarist, he elected to enter the wine business, descibing it as “One of my big passions, because it´s more than work – it´s a lifestyle.” His winemaking travels have taken him to Napa, Sonoma, Argentina, France, Spain, Italy, Australia, back to Concha y Toro in Chile and then finally to Ventisquero. In 2003, Felipe began a close collaboration with John Duval in the production of icon wines Pangea, Vertice and the Grey Single Block wines, a partnership which currently continues.

Alejandro Galaz

Winemaker Alejandro Galaz came to Ventisquero with 8 years of winemaking experience, including stints at Kendall-Jackson in Moterey and Castel-Virginie in Laguedoc-Roussillon. His passion for Pinot Noir is evident…”From the vineyard to the bottle, Pinot Noir is a very complicated variety – but I enjoy big challenges! I have always found the production process behind Pinot Noir truly fascinating and love the fact that the wines become a true expression of the grape´s elegance, distinction and subtlety”. Alejandro is also responsible for Ventisquero´s white wines.

Sergio Hormazábal

Sergio Hormazábal Joined Ventisquero´s winemaking team in January 2009, with primary responsibility for red winemaking. His previous expirience includes seven years at Viña William Fèvre in the Maipo Alto region, and time spent in France, northern Italy and Portugal. He has also worked as a research assistant at the Istitut Coopératif du Vin in Languedoc. Sergio is definitely a red wine man. “I love Cabernet with style and personality, mature Carménère, with typicity, and Syrah from all types of climates. I also like to try different vines and blends whenever I have a chance.”
